Greenbelt Home Care

Greenbelt Home Care is gearing up for another Christmas season and asks for your help.
After researching how other counties across the nation provide gifts to low-income families at Christmas, a decision was made to host a Christmas Store. The purpose of transitioning to the Christmas Store is to give families a feeling of empowerment during the holiday season. Some families may feel uncomfortable receiving gifts for free. A Christmas Store gives parents an opportunity to select their child’s gift. The goal with the Christmas Store is to allow qualifying low-income families to come in and purchase toys at a reduced price. Another option being considered is to allow families the chance to volunteer in some way in exchange for tickets to “purchase” gifts. The event will take place
Saturday, December 9
8:30 am to 12:30 pm
Hardin County Fairgrounds, Eldora

“Christmas Cheer”

The angels are coming, the angels are coming! Once again, members of First United Methodist are teaming up with the “Christmas Cheer Project” (aka School Nurse’s Fund) to help needy families in our community this Christmas. Through this project, we “adopt” several children for the holiday season and buy them presents (specifically clothing) according to their needs. Each angel will list a specific need for a specific child.
First UMC will be adopting ten (10) families so get your shopping gear ready and be on the lookout for Angels Among Us! Once you choose your angel and complete your shopping, gifts should be returned to First UMC where they will be sorted into family groupings and then delivered enmasse.
Donors are encouraged to leave gifts unwrapped so that parents may see what is being given. Gift wrap will be provided to each family.
The Nurse’s Committee requests that gifts be turned in to them on December 11-12 so, please, have your gift(s) to First UMC no later than December 10.

Communications APP for your tablet or smart phone

The newest means of communication is an APP for your smart phone or tablet.  This can be downloaded for free from your App store on your phone or tablet.  Search for this by inserting IFUMC or Iowa Falls 1stUMC.  From this program you will have access to a Bible program, event calendar, podcasts of the sermon, connection options to the church by email for prayer requests, and to Pushpay, the electronic giving program.  If you have any questions or need help, contact Jane Schultz or members of the finance team—Mike Nissly, Brock Jacobson, Tam Elerding and Mitch Meyer.  Jane Schultz — communications@ifumc.org or 648-9006
